33rd Annual Student Scholastic Bursary Program
Investing in the Next Generation
Established in November 2006, the Jamaica Ex-Soldiers Association (Toronto Chapter) created the Annual Student Scholastic Bursary Program to recognize outstanding students of Jamaican heritage. Each year, we celebrate young people who excel academically and demonstrate a commitment to their communities through volunteerism and leadership.
Application Deadline: Friday, October 17th, 2025.
Eligibility & Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Heritage: Must be of Jamaican heritage.
- Education: Must be enrolled full-time at a recognized post-secondary institution, beginning the first semester immediately following Grade 12 graduation.
- Academic Excellence: Maintained a minimum B+ average in the last two years of high school (supported by official transcripts).
- Community Involvement: Demonstrated active volunteering, supported by records and letters of reference from a high school.
- Personal Statement: Submit a one-page, typewritten essay describing why you should be selected for the award.
How the Program is Funded
- The bursary program is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, corporations, individual donors, and JESA’s fundraising activities.
Award Presentation
- Successful recipients will be recognized and awarded during the Annual Fundraising Banquet & Bursary Awards on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Woodbine Banquet and Convention Centre.
